Last night saw the grand switch-on of Millbrae's new floodlights. The New Year storms wreaked havoc on one of the masts on the far touchline, almost snapping it in two and sending it crashing into nearby trees. Now the new lighting system is up and running, not only on the 1st team pitch, but the 2nd team pitch too.
This follows Ayr RFC's continuing commitment to improving facilities at Millbrae. The 2nd XV now has new changing rooms, after the former squash courts were converted. Showers have been refurbished, as have the ladies' and gents' toilets. Plans are also in place for disabled toilet facilities.
Keep an eye on the website for match and player news, as well as information about the club's Burns Supper (Friday 17th February, 7:30pm, tickets available from the clubhouse bar), the upcoming Ladies' Day and the Scotland Club international against France Club XV on Friday 24th February.
So it's all go at Millbrae in the first months of 2012, on and off the pitch. We wish the 1st XV the best of luck for their match against Aberdeen Grammar tomorrow.
